Company was fined for unguarded machinery after a worker was injured

Ferrisgate Coatings Limited was fined £13,500 with £3,603 costs at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Friday 29 April 2015 after a worker sustained serious personal injury to his hand.

Ferrisgate Coatings Limited, of Burrell Way, Thetford, Norfolk, pleaded guilty of breaching the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, Regulation 11(1).

The incident, which happened on 19 December 2013, involved a large machine used to apply plastic lamination. The worker’s fingers were caught in an unguarded in-running nip between rollers.
