Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Awareness Course

Fire Safety Training

The Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Awareness Course is designed for employees who want to develop their basic Fire Safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific Fire Safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc.)
Successful candidates will be awarded a Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Awareness Course qualification (Level 5 in Scotland) in Fire Safety.

It is essential to ensure that staff are suitably trained on the procedures to be followed in the event of a fire.  The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that the owners or persons in control of non-domestic premises must manage fire safety and in doing so need to provide staff with adequate fire safety training. The training provided is better known as Fire Warden/Fire Marshal Training.

Course Summary
General fire safety awareness in England and Wales is maintained through compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The legislation implements a risk-based approach to fire safety in community, industrial and business premises. It requires the responsible person (usually the employer, owner or occupier) to carry out a fire safety risk assessment, implement appropriate fire precautionary and protection measures and to maintain a fire management plan. All members of staff have a role to play in fire safety and the fire safety qualifications support these various roles.
